Last weekend we went to our friend’s wedding near and we stayed at NYLO hotel where the reception party was held. It’s a fancy boutique hotel. The room was very very small but it got me to rethink how to utilize every square inch in the room. Looking at my place now, I have so many spots or corners in the room that I never get to use. They either are too hard to access or have too much junks. Whenever I think about rearranging the room, I always tell myself I don’t need to do it now because the lease will be over soon, and the change wouldn’t worth it. It’s such a lazy excuse come to think of it. And it’s also the same excuse when the designer and engineer discuss about fixing old design.

About the shot, I was by the pool doing nothing enjoying steaming hot weather (it was like 60 in San Francisco everyday for a while). I shot this with the 50mm at f/2.

It’s been a while since I get to shoot lots of people shots. Since I moved to California, it has always been things like nature or street photography. Anyway, this is right after the ceremony. I had to be quick because there was a hired photographer there and I don’t want to get in his way. The lighting was tricky, as usual, in a church with sun light shining in. Luckily I set the camera to manual mode and the settings was right at that time so the exposure and color was really nice. This shot is one of the few cases that I don’t have to fix the lighting and color at all in photoshop!

We just got back from our friend – Anya’s wedding in Dallas. It was a lot of fun and I get to practice on wedding photos again after a while. This shot is meant to be viewed in a larger size  - so click here!

I promise to post more pictures soon. I think I posted only a few shots from Seattle, Napa, and Yosemite  trips and there should be some interesting ones to show here.

This is a shot from Peju winery when we took my parents for a trip to Napa a several weeks ago. We didn’t try the wine here but spent time walking around the area. I’ve only been to Napa/Sonoma very few times since I moved here two years ago. Though, the trip is always predictable – long, hot, tipsy, and nice scenes for photography.

We took my parents, who came visit from Thailand for two weeks, to Yosemite National Park. It’s the most beautiful nature scene I have even seen here in the US. I’ll definitely go back and do more hiking. This is a shot from the valley floor. I believe this is the Yosemite Falls but I’m not sure. There are so many waterfalls in the park this time of year.

Another shot from Tahoe. This picture is so blue I had to name it this way. I didn’t even adjust the color, it’s amazing how the camera captured the sky and Tahoe water. Namfon and I have been busy lately with our new jobs. I rarely take photos or ride my bike. Summer is coming and I hope we will adjust to our new work place and then get back to our routine

I went to lake Tahoe last weekend (memorial day weekend) for an Aikido training event. The weather was very weird, it snowed and rain on Friday and then sunny after that). This shot was taken from north lake Tahoe and you can see the rain cloud is coming while the mountains on the south side was still sunny.

It’s been a month since the last time I posted a picture! There are so many distractions lately.  Last weekend I went to Indianapolis to see some friends but I didn’t bring my camera. I guess my photographer spirit is not as high as before. I thought it was because the scenes around me are the same. But on the other hand, I believe the photographer creates the scene, not the other way around. Maybe I need to start seeing the world in new angles.

About the shot, this is the Space Needle. There are so many shots that focus on the building, that’s why I want to focus on something else, and it worked well. The Space Needle looks cool from the outside but I don’t know if I want to spend money and go up there and see the skyline view minus the needle itself.

Seattle! We went to Seattle for the first time. I was going to An Event Apart conference and it was awesome. There are lots of big name speakers I got to meet. Anyway, in this trip, I forgot to bring a battery charger and my camera battery was dying. We went up to Kerry park in Queen Anne area for this nice view of Seattle. I heard that it’s a famous spot to do news coverage about Seattle as well. I only got 3 shots of the skyline and then the battery was dead.  I believe this is 1/15 sec hand-held. Thanks to image stabilizer that made this shot to turn out ok.

Last week we went to the city to meet a visiting friend. I took this shot while I was waiting at the Powell BART station. It was busy as usual but there was a moment where the scene is clear and it was just this girl listening to music and reading comic magazine. I was lucky to get the shot at the right place and right time.
